About Laura Roth

My name is Laura Roth and I am a Clinical Psychologist. I have a unique way of doing therapy. I believe in giving people direct and objective feedback throughout the therapeutic process. Most of us do not know how we come across to other people because we all have blind spots. We cannot see ourselves because we are too close to gain an objective perspective. This is why many people do not know what is causing them to feel anxious, sad or irritable. However, this is essential information because we cannot fix something if we don't know what is broken. .

Often we feel overwhelmed by a build-up of unresolved feelings or because we are avoiding a potential conflict that we do not want to face. I call these unresolved feelings or conflicts "bricks in a wall." When these bricks get so high that you can no longer see who or what is on the other side of the wall, you lose a sense of connection to others. Many people avoid necessary change because they are afraid of the unknown and want to stay in their comfort zone(s). Ironically, it is the resistance to change that can actually cause anxiety and depression. In therapy, I help people develop the courage to look over the "wall," the tools to communicate and address conflict, and the belief that you are capable of successfully handling what life throws you in order to keep moving forward in your life.
